Affordable housing and housing alternatives will be in greater demand as the boomer generation gets older. Homesharing is a viable option for those seeking a balance of support, companionship and independence. On October 19th, Over 55 is sponsoring a discussion on new ideas for homesharing. The meeting will take place at 2 PM at The Kiwanis Seniors Community Centre in the Crafts Room. Carol Burns, Over 55 Special Projects Researcher will facilitate the meeting.

I have a series of health problems but I do have a home and some resources. I have been trying to find a safe compatible person who is not looking for fringe benefits to share my home with. It is not a safe or simple thing to be putting out into the world. In other words, I cant advertise. I hope you will find a way for people like myself to list what we have to offer and help us find someone compatible. That would be helpful.
I too am considering downsizing, but would like to share accommodations to curb household expenses. The ‘Golden Girl’ living arrangement concept is of interest. I love to garden and would miss that part of my life if I go into an apartment condo. Ideally, having a private suite, but also a common living area with compatible friends would be an ideal setup. Input would be welcome.
